Vishwaroopam premiere on Sundirect Kamal Haasan has signed with Sun Direct (Tamil and Telugu) Sun Direct, part of the Sun TV group, has close to 60 per cent of the total DTH connections in the State. According to industry estimates, there are over 4.5 million DTH homes in the State. According to industry sources, while the charge for Tamil version is Rs 1,000, for other languages it has been fixed at Rs 500.

Without diving in deep into the suffering of fishermen, ‘Neerparavai’ sensitively addresses a burning issue. Seenu intelligently marries humor with tragedy to provide a sense of relief overall, while his cast, apt to the context of the film, performed with ease and composure. Raghunandan’s music was soothing to the ears and his re-recording in particular demands a mention. Balasubramaniam’s cinematography captures the splendour of the fishermen’s hamlet and sea adeptly and leaves behind strong impression in the viewers. Nandita Das’ brief performance breathes life into the seabird. Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (NKPK): An all new cast and a highly entertaining creative script make NKPK one of the best comedies of the year. Never before in Tamil cinema, was male bonhomie celebrated like it was commemorated in this film. When one among four friends happens to forget the last few years of his life along with short-term memory loss after suffering a fatal fall, it is up to his friends to cover the truth and get him married. Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom Movie Review

A movie that had me rethinking the future of tamil movie.. A movie that had me in splits through the hours... A movie that gave me hope that small movies were here to stay... Am talking about "Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom [NKPK]" . I had heard of this few months ago when my friend announced that her student was doing the music. Few days later, i got to hear the songs in her CD and fell in love with them instantly. The lyrics, the style and the tunes were all so catchy. Esp the Oh Crazy minnal song by Andrea. And finally, the movie had hit the theaters and was getting good reviews. The only thing that stuck in my head was that none of the reviews mentioned the music, the songs... Anyways, paying no head, few weeks ago, I booked 2 tickets, dragged mom and went for the movie [ we watched it in Sangam cinemas, PH Road]. NKPK is a story about Prem Kumar (Vijay Sethupathi) who has a small accident while playing cricket with his friends Bagavathy aka Bugs (Bagavathi himself), Saras (Vigneshwaran) and Bajji aka Balaji (Raj Kumar) and loses his memory[the last one year] Enna achchu? Oh, namma cricket vilayidinom.. Nee ball potta Nee thaane bat panina? Naa pidikka ponein.. Oh.. vitutena?? Kal thavari keezha vizhundutein.. Inga thaan adi padiduchu.. anga thaan medula oblongeta irukku Shockla short term memory loss aayirukum its ok, athuva sariya poyidum.. This is a dialogue you will hear atleast a million times, well, i exaggerate, but atleast 30-40times through the movie. But, you are not wondering why they are saying the same thing!! You are completely tuned in gasping and watching intently. Vijay Sethupathi [Prem] is brilliant throughout. But his three friends have acted just as well, they have kept the plot going, had us all guessing what is going to happen next... The brilliant casting and acting is the highlight of this movie. Agreed, some scenes seemed weak, but they all tie together beautifully. We were in splits through the movie, we understood why the dialogues were repeated, and we wondered what will happen to Prem and his wedding, will he be able to go through with it? Oh and this is the 2nd most amazing scene in the movie- the wedding scene...Vigneswaran [Saras] simply rocked.... The entire theater was howling with laughter and it dint stop till the very end... Another amazing dialogue - avan kulla irutha suppression, depression, uppression, fobia, anxiety, disorder, complex, kastam, nastam, soham, bayam... ellam pidingitu velia vandirchi... Even though i missed the Oh Crazy minnal song, it made sense to have kept it off, the movie dint need songs at all.. The 4 guys stole the show.... Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom was a pleasant surprise, and it is a huge success, even though none of the cast are popular, nor did it have any item numbers or masala. Shows that different genres also work, especially when directed well.. A must watch for tamil movie fans.... I would rate it 4.9/5 :-)

Negative Points:- 1. Electronic Program Guide (electronic program guide) is a crap. Except in Sun channels, electronic program guide is not updated properly in other channels. electronic program guideis not at all available in many channels. When Setop box is started, it takes long time for electronic program guide to get updated. 2. Picture Quality of channels which are competing with Sun is poor. Check the quality of KalaignarTV when Maanada Mayilaada program is telecast. Same is the case of Vijay TV during popular programs. Picture quality of other non-Sun channels is also not good.(Unfair practice) 3. No other Tamil Music channel, except Sun Music is available. I don't consider SS Music as Tamil Music channel. To avoid competition, Sun does not include 7s music,Channel ufx, Raj Music in the channel list. (Unfair practice) 4. Their Alacarte channels are another crap. Standard channels preferred by many are Tamil channels, Kids channels, Nature related (Discovery, Animal Planet etc.), English Movies. You need to pay at least Rs.200/- for this. 5. You can not rearrange channel orders as per your preference. Thiswas available earlier and removed later. You are forced to keep Sun channels at the top. 6. No interactive services even after2 years. You can not check your account balance or purchased plandetails in TV. 7. Customer service is another crap. In case of any fault in Dish/Set top box, Sun does not take responsibility. You need to go behind the distributor who provided the Dish to you. 8. No Toll-Free number for customer support. It is not easier to speak to customer support during odd hours or holidays. 9. ICC expresses sadness at Tony Greig's passing ICC chief executive David Richardson expressed his sadness on hearing the news that former England captain and respected commentator Tony Greig had passed away in Sydney today. Mr Richardson said: "This is extremely sad news for cricket and the ICC send their condolences to Tony's family and in particular his wife Vivian. Tony played a significant part in shaping modern cricket as a player in the 1970s and then provided millions of cricket lovers with a unique insight as a thoughtful and knowledgeable commentator - primarily for the Nine Network in Australia. "I met with him on several occasions during the recent ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka where he was a senior commentator for our broadcast partner ESS. He was also a regular visitor to the ICC offices in Dubai when commentating for Ten Sports. I am sure that I will not be alone in saying that he and his wise words will be missed by cricketers, administrators and spectators around the world." Tony Greig played 58 Tests for England and was captain between 1975 and 1977 before joining World Series Cricket. Zee Cinema to premiere English Vinglish on 29 Dec

MUMBAI: Zee Cinema is all set to premiere English Vinglish on Indian television on 29 December at 8 pm. The movie, which is a comeback of Bollywood actress Sridevi after a hiatus of 14 years, is produced by R Balki. The channel has roped in Godrej Ezee as the presenting sponsor while the Attitude (Amway) is the powered by sponsor. Zee Cinema is quite hopeful of the movie that was widely applauded. Zee Cinema business head Mohan Gopinath said, "There are some films that set the cash registers ringing at the box office and others that evoke critical acclaim. Then there are a third lot of films that effortlessly manage to score on both these fronts by sheer virtue of their caliber combined with the star power of their luminous cast. We are extremely confident that the world television premiere of English Vinglish will be received well by Zee Cinema viewers." Kamal Haasan came out with a detailed statement on Sunday, justifying his decision to air 'Viswaroopam' on DTH platform, a day ahead of its theatrical release. "Screening Viswaroopam on DTH only once before its release will not affect collections in the box-office. Only 3 per cent of Tamil Nadu population have DTH connections in their homes," he said. Kamal added: "In that 3 per cent, only 1.5 per cent are expected to subscribe for Viswaroopam. The film can not be recorded and it can be watched only once." Plans are on to collect Rs 1000 per DTH connection to watch 'Viswaroopam'. "There is kitchen at each and every home. But people go to hotels. There are portraits of God at home. But people go to Tirupati and other temples," Kamal said, adding that people will sure come to theatres to watch 'Viswaroopam'.

'Viswaroopam' THE biggest budget Film in Tamil

'Viswaroopam' as the name implies is getting bigger and better. Insiders in the industry reveal that this flick is being made at a jaw-dropping 120 crore budget! Although there's no official confirmation on this, 'Viswaroopam' will definitely be a top-budget film in Kamal Haasan's career and if this is true, his biggest so far! This film will project Kamal's role from a different perspective, reveal insiders. Pooja Kumar will play the lead lady in this action thriller. The cast also includes Andrea and Isha in supporting roles. The core team of this film is readying to fly to the US soon to go ahead with their next schedule. The team will later shift base to UK where the remaining portions of 'Viswaroopam' will be shot. More than fifty percent of filming from Chennai and Jordan has been wrapped. Some sources in the industry are believed to have revealed that the producers of 'Viswaroopam' have shelled out more than 50 crores already, and are willing to give out more. The film employs the latest techniques in computer graphics for that cutting edge look and feel. Once complete, 'Viswaroopam' will be on par with international films say some experts in the industry.

`Viswaroopam` not against Muslims

CHENNAI: Defending his decision to release his upcoming directorial venture ‘Viswaroopam’ also on DTH platform, superstar Kamal Haasan Sunday said it will in no way deter crowds from thronging the theatres even as he sought to dispel fears that the film was against Muslims. "Muslims, who suspect they have been depicted in a wrong manner will have a change of heart after watching the film and as a remedy they have to send their brother (Haasan) lot of Biriyani for Eid next year, which I will share with the poor," the actor said in a statement here. Claiming that a majority of the Tamil cinema industry had backed his DTH idea as "novel", he said only a minor section was agitated against his proposal and spreading unnecessary rumours. "One show will be aired on DTH which cannot be recorded and neither will it remain in the DTH system. The charge is Rs 1000 which is 10 times that of the theatre. For sure one can have the joy of watching the movie at home but not the experience of viewing it in the theatre," he said adding the film boasted of latest sound technology. He said DTH penetration in Tamil Nadu was only three per cent and enjoyed by the "affluent," and his idea would reach only half of this number and the apprehensions amounted to "100 persons fearing one." To further explain his case, he cited a divine anecdote. He said while people have portraits of Lord Venkateshwara at home, this did not however deter them from visiting the holy shrine near Tirupati. "The case of cinema halls is something like that," he said. "Have hotels been shutdown because many homes have kitchens which prepare good food?" he asked. He indicated that initial fears against movies being telecast on TV channels were proved wrong. Haasan had kicked up a row when he decided to release his trilingual "Viswaroopam" on Direct-To-Home platform eight hours ahead of its release on January 11 next. The thriller stars Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapoor and Andrea Jeremiah, among others.

You might have seen the commercials online or on TV: Bing has been waging a marketing war on Google, claiming that blind users prefer Bing's results over Google's by a 2-to-1 margin. But has Microsoft's search engine really advanced enough to pose a credible threat to Google? While you can test the comparison on your own at BingitOn.com, I've identified strengths and weaknesses for both. Either engine may have an edge depending on your personal preferences. From social integration to speed to quality, here's a look at how they stack up: Google advantage: Provides more relevant information. While Bing's recent changes make it a more viable search option, it's still lacking in terms of result quality in response to informative queries. In this case, I tested the phrase, "income tax rates." While the Google search engine results page (SERP) displayed information on both 2012 and 2013 tax rates in the first five listings, the only dated information found in Bing's results was a single listing mentioning 2011 tax rates. Bing advantage: Social integrations are stronger. Bing's results win in terms of the smoothness of its social integrations. The company's contracts with both Facebook and Twitter give it access to more social data than Google, which must rely on the lesser-used Google+ network. The way it integrates social recommendations into its SERPs is also much less cluttered than Google's results. Google advantage: Instant search saves time. If you use any of Google's other products -- such as Google Reader or Google+ -- the search giant already has a wealth of information available to understand you and tailor its results to the listings that are most likely to be of value to you. While Bing offers similar products -- such as Bing Reader -- they aren't nearly as widely adopted as Google's offerings, meaning that Bing's internal integrations aren't likely to influence the company's SERP results for many users. In this case, because I'm subscribed to SEO and social monitoring service SEOMoz in my Google Reader account, I was more likely to see posts from SEOMoz contributing authors appear in my Google query results than in Bing's listings. To me, this adds value by increasing the likelihood that results will appear from authors I know and trust. Bottom line: Everyone's search engine use comes down to personal preference. Since many consumers now search for information online prior to making a purchase at a brick-and-mortar store, your site may be the first chance you have at making a good impression on a potential buyer. If your site looks like it was designed by a barrel of colorblind monkeys, your chance at making a good first impression will be lost. One of the great things about the internet is that it has leveled the playing field when it comes to competing with the big boys. As mentioned, you have one shot at making a good first impression. With a well-designed site, your little operation can project the image and professionalism of a much larger company. The inverse is also true. I've seen many big company websites that were so badly designed and hard to navigate that they completely lacked professionalism and credibility. Good for you, too bad for them. You also mention that yours is a small operation, but when it comes to benefiting from a website, size does not matter. I don't care if you're a one-man show or a 10,000-employee corporate giant; if you don't have a website, you're losing business to other companies that do. Vaikuntha Ekadashi (Kannada: ವೈಕುಂಠ ಏಕಾದಶಿ)(Tamil: வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி) (Telugu: వైకుంఠ ఏకాదశి)or Mukkoti Ekadashi is the Shukla paksha Ekadashi that occurs during the Dhanurmasa period in the Hindu calendar (corresponding to late December - January in English calendar). Vaishnavism (Worship of Lord Vishnu) culture believes that ‘Vaikuntha Dwaram’ or ‘the gate to Lord's Inner Sanctum’ is opened on this day. The Margashirsha shukla paksha ekadashi in lunar calendar is known as a 'Mokshada Ekadashi'. Special prayers, yagnas, discourses and speeches are arranged at Vishnu temples across the world on this auspicious day. According to Vishnu Purana, fasting on Vaikuntha Ekadashi is equivalent to fasting on the remaining 23 Ekadashis of the (Hindu) year.[1] However according to Vaishnava tradition fasting is mandatory on all Ekadashi of both Shukla paksha and Krishna paksha. Fasting on Ekadashi is considered holier than any other religious observation. Lord opened the gate of Vaikuntham (his abode) for two demons in spite of them being against the Lord. They also asked for the boon that who ever listens to their story and see the image of Lord coming out of the door (called Dwar) called Vaikunth Dwar they reach Vaikunth as well. Temples all over India make a door kind of structure on this day for devotees to walk through. According to Padma Purana, the female energy of Lord Vishnu slayed the demon Muran and protects the `Devas'. This happened on the eleventh day of lunar month during the sun's journey in the Dhanur rasi. Impressed by the act, Lord Vishnu names her as `Ekadashi' and gives her the boon that those who worship `Ekadashi' on the day of her victory over Muran would reach `Vaikunth' (His abode).[2] Vaikuntha Ekadasi is one of the important and auspicious days for Hindus. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It occurs in the Hindu calendar, in the month of Margashirsha (Between December and January). Also called the 'Mukkoti Ekadasi', when observed, it bestows liberation from the cycle of birth and death.

Born on 22 December 1887, Srinivasa Ramanujan was an Indian mathematician who made extraordinary contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions. He was an autodidact. Recently, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh declared 2012 as the 'National Mathematical year' as a tribute to maths wizard Srinivasa Ramanujan. Singh also declared December 22, the birthday of Ramanujan, as 'National Mathematics Day "A genius like Ramanujan would shine bright even in the most adverse of circumstances, but we should be geared to encourage and nurture good talent which may not be of the same calibre as that of Ramanujan", Singh had once said. It is believed that a biography of Ramanujan written by Professor Robert Kanigel has made Ramanujan well known to the public at large all over the world. Along with CV Raman and Subramanyam Chandrashekhar (both Nobel laureates), Srinivasa Ramanujan is said to be among the three great men of science and mathematics that Tamil Nadu and India have given to the world of modern times. Sharing his thoughts on Srinivasa Ramanujan, the great mathematician, after whom the year was named as the National Year of Mathematics, Dr Kalam said, "Ramanujan lived for 33 years only. But he was an exceptional mathematician." On 26 April 1920, Ramanujan died of illness, malnutrition, and possibly liver infection at the age of 32.
